‘Fortnite’: Where To Find The Hidden Letter ‘E’ In The ‘Dive!’ Loading Screen

We were spelling “Fortnite” all along! Such is the remarkable twist ending to the season-long letter hunt here in Fortnite chapter 2 that comes to a conclusion this week with the “Dive!” loading screen. I’m still not entirely sure what the plot was this season: something about a conflict between interdimensional doppelgangers, and maybe a kind of a heist that’s now concluded with a daring boat chase over a hydroelectric dam. And you’ll need to find the “E” hidden within to unlock the secret Sonara skin, assuming you’ve been doing these the whole time.

Let’s take a look at the loading screen:

This one is pretty straightforward: you can see the “E” clearly over a lamp post on the left side of the screen. Our heroes here are racing under the hydroelectric dam by the lake in the southern portion of the map. Here’s where you’re going:

So head on over to the lamp post in question, do a little building and snag the letter. Take note, however, that this won’t unlock until you’ve completed eight tasks from the Dive! mission, or the letter will not appear.

If you’ve been completing this all along, you’ll now have unlocked the secret Sonara skin, usually a kind of capstone achievement for the season. It’s not the most elaborate challenge skin we’ve seen yet, but the game seems to have pulled back from the massive multi-stage works like Ragnarok or the Prisoner. Still, gotta catch ‘em all, and lots of people play this game primarily to collect skins and not so much for those elusive Victory Royales.

I’m still interested to see where this season goes from here: we haven’t had basically any movement, plot-wise, but there’s now quite a bit of time left on this thing and, assumedly, a live event at some point. A slow season may have been just what both the developers and the players needed after the lighting pace of Chapter 1, but even so I’d like to see a bit of Fortnite’s trademark map-based storytelling.
