The gnomes are making a return. Epic Games must have been feeling a little nostalgic as the developers figured out how to fill up the time between the end of the normal challenges and the actual end of the season, because it seems like we’re revisiting some old favorites. Both the Rippley vs. Sludge challenges and the 8-Ball vs. Scratch Challenges have some variation on an old favorite: the search between challenge, and the hidden gnome. We now have gnomes that are hidden between various objects on the map, and so once you’ve gotten near the end of each of these challenge lists, the game is going to give you a bit of geography test. Read on for a map, guide and lcoation for where to find the hidden gnome found between Logjam Woodworks.

As with the other gnome challenge, there’s a non-unique item on the list in the form of a wooden shack. That means we’re going to orient ourselves using Logjam Woodworks, which is a pretty prominent landmark down there in the swampy area. Here’s the area we’re going to be looking at:

The bucket tree is nearby, and looks basically what you would think it would look like. It’s a tree with buckets on it:

Let’s zoom in and see what we’re working with:

The gnome should appear right in the middle of those three things, inside of a tree in the swamp. The gnome will not appear until you’ve completed enough other mission objectives to unlock this one, so don’t go looking early. They are crafty little devils, these gnomes.

As usual, I can’t say I’m really a fan of the way that you need to complete earlier challenges to unlock later ones, something that Fortnite started last season and continues now. The best thing about challenges are the way that they allow people to feel successful with different playstyles, but the forced progression makes the entire thing feel much more constrained and much more like the game is just trying to guide you through a list rather than making suggestions about what you might want to do. In this case, you need to slog through some frustrating objectives before you even get the chance to try the location-based ones, which is annoying.
