When And Where To Watch The ‘Fortnite’ Star Wars Live-Event Today

Here's how to watch or participate in today's big Fortnite X Star Wars live event.

Update: As of right now servers appear to be having issues. I don’t think servers are down, but login isn’t working. The embedded stream in this post still shows streamer NickEh30 playing the game, so it’s still up and running. You just can’t get in, and you can’t get that glider if that’s the case. This could be an epic disaster.

Update 2: I’m logging in now so it looks like servers are coming back. Geoff Keighley just announced that there will be a ten minute delay of the event to give everyone a chance to get in. Also, everyone is getting the glider for free even if you can’t get in.

Today’s the day we’ve all been waiting for. Fortnite is finally having its big Star Wars crossover live-event. We’ve been told that we’ll see an exclusive scene premiere from the movie in the game itself, but there’s almost certainly more to it than that. Epic has some surprises up its sleeves, no doubt about it.

What we do know is that in the game today, in the first live-event since Chapter 2 began, we will be able to watch a clip of the new Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker and then probably some other crazy stuff will happen.

So how can you watch or participate in the event in-game? And what time does it start?

Well, the answer to the second question is it starts very soon. Here are the start-times:

  • 11 am PT
  • 12 pm MT
  • 1pm CT
  • 2 pm ET
  • 7pm BST
  • 6am AEST (December 15)
  • Risky Reels has changed.

Make sure you’re in the game a few minutes before the event begins. Oftentimes the queues will be long and it’s likely as not that you won’t get in at all. I always suggest having a back-up plan. I’ve included a streaming embed below so that you can watch that if you fail to load into the game.

Epic has disabled all but the core game modes at this point and there should be a special LTM for this event in particular. Load into that when you see it.

You definitely want to try to get into the live event in-game if possible. Doing so will earn you a free TIE Interceptor Glider just for showing up. Pretty sweet.

You might also want to check on the Fortnite Twitter account. Last season Epic included a live-stream of the black hole event on Twitter.

If you do get into the game, here’s the location of Risky Reels on the map:

Risky Reels is one of the few locations that crossed over from Chapter 1, though this time around it isn’t a Named Location. Rather, it’s a Landmarkâ€"a location that has a name but the name doesn’t show up on the map.

I really like Landmarksâ€"I think they’re one of the best new map features of Season 11. (I have many other problems with this season, however).

Risky Reels itself has been utterly transformed for this event. The screen is gone, replaced with what appears to be a giant hologram projector.

Oh, and here’s a live-stream of the event from NickEh30 just in case you just want to watch instead of play (or can’t get into the game).

Alright, see you out there at the live-event young padawans. May the Force of others be with you.
