Epic Games Is Suing the Fortnite Tester Who Leaked Chapter 2

After the second chapter appeared online just a little earlier then Epic Games would have liked, the company is going after the one responsible for it. The company is suing the tester for spoiling Fortnite Chapter 2.

Per Polygon, Epic Games filed the lawsuit yesterday in a North Carolina Court, stating that Ronald Sykes, a user experience tester, leaked information about Fortnite's upcoming chapter 2 before any information had been unveiled yet.

For those of you that are a bit unaware, Fortnite shut down for about two days. The game returned with a new map and a lot of other new changes after having 10 full seasons in its first chapter.

According to the lawsuit, Sykes was a tester of the new content in late September. About three days after his testing session, he tweeted to another Twitter user that he played the new season and could tell them about all of the new stuff he played. Sykes continued to tweet about information coming to the new Fortnite season such as the new ability to swim. He had even posted an image of the new map.

Polygon had reached out to Epic Games for a comment on the situation but Epic stated that it does not comment on ongoing litigation. Sykes also did not respond to Polygon's request for comment.

This wouldn't be a first for Epic Games. The studio has sued someone in the past for leaking some secrets about an upcoming season. Back in 2018, a quality assurance contractor was sued for leaking information on season 3.
