Apple’s App Store May Have Just Leaked Fortnite’s New Map For ‘Chapter 2’

It wouldn’t be a new season of Fortnite without some sort of leak, but with many speculating that season 11 will bring an entirely new map, potential confirmation of that is very big deal.

Apparently the Italian Apple store has leaked an image of what is called Fortnite: Chapter 2, with an image that appears to be that of an unfamiliar, brand new map.

In the image, we can see Fortnite characters surveying a new landscape, an unfamiliar built-up area in the distance, and what appear to be boats racing around on the water. I also see a lighthouse in the distance there. At the time of this writing, the image has been removed, but not before it was captured by eagle-eyed fans.

If this is true, and Fortnite “Chapter 2” is getting a brand new map, it would be no great surprise to players at this point. All of season 10 has essentially been a farewell tour for the current map, with Epic bringing back old zones and areas. The final loading screen of the season is Fortnite characters waving goodbye to the battle bus, and the big event planned for this Sunday is quite literally called “The End.” Past that, dataminers have turned up a dozen or so new location names in the backend, when usually we see no more than two or three added per season.

This seems like precisely the right moment for Fortnite to replace its current map. The existing map has been transformed so many times there’s little left to do to it now. Fortnite is now competing against a slate of big fall releases, and recently Apex Legends, its battle royale rival, introduced an entirely new map for season 3, while Fortnite is heading into season 11.

It will no doubt breathe some measure of fresh life into the game, but I am wondering what other changes might arrive with “Chapter 2,” which signals perhaps not just a new map, but an entirely new era for the game as Epic continues to expand it. While Fortnite may be fading from its all-time highs, it’s still a massive title, and Epic has an enormous warchest of revenue to do whatever they want with it for years to come.

I am excited to see a new Fortnite map, mainly because it will involve writing guides for places people have never been before, as I was getting tired of the same zones over and over. We will know more this Sunday when season 11 may actually start right after this event happens. I would not put it past Epic to somehow replace the entire map in real time, given their past antics.

Stay tuned, this is going to be big.
